Artistry gets Group Three

Artistry (Shamardal x Lady Peony) flew late and fought hard to claim the Gr.3 HKJC Stakes (1400m) on Melbourne Cup Day at Flemington.

Bred and owned by Neven Botica, Artistry was born at Amarina in 2011- the same year as fellow farm graduate Sheidel (Holy Roman Emperor x Laventour) who won the Gr.3 Sensis Stakes on Saturday.

Artistry was coming off the back of a last start second in the Gr.3 Nivison Stakes at Randwick, and showed the travel to Victoria and step up in distance was no toll on her tenacity.

Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, Artistry has now won seven of her 19 starts and has earned over $430,000.

Artistry is a daughter of the unraced Belong To Me mare Lady Peony whose dam Zebizan is a sister to Group 1 winner Cronus and Group II winner Pravda as well as the unraced Milliyet the dam of triple Group 1 winner Samantha Miss.

Lady Peony is also the dam of multiple winner Countryman (Royal Academy) who was also born at Amarina.
