Chris Waller knows better than most trainers what it takes to win a Group race and he believes Zumbelina (Stratum x Ruth’s Secret) has the necessary attributes after she made it four wins on the trot at Rosehill.<\/p>\n
Sent out the $2.40 favourite, Zumbelina stalked the speed before jockey Brenton Avdulla pulled her into the clear in the straight and she strode away to score by a neck on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Achi Baba ($3.50) was a gallant runner-up and the well-supported Arbeitsam ($4) stuck on for third.<\/p>\n
The Group Three James Carr and PJ Bell Stakes are on Zumbelina’s autumn agenda but Sydney’s leading trainer didn’t rule out the possibility of another start before being spelled.<\/p>\n
“She’s learnt to win which is a big thing,” Waller said.<\/p>\n
“These types of horses usually can win a Group race.”<\/p>\n
Zumbelina was born at Amarina in 2013 and\u00a0is owned by Richard Treweeke who has a share in champion mare Winx.<\/p>\n
Avdulla said the win was painless.<\/p>\n
“I can’t take much credit, I literally put my dollar into the coin slot and just enjoyed the ride,” Avdulla said.<\/p>\n
“Everything panned out perfect. The speed was good, I just travelled.”<\/p>\n
The win took Zumbelina’s prize money past $260,000 as she recorded her fourth win from five starts.<\/p>\n
