No Coolmore for Property

Trainer Robert Smerdon has decided against running three-year-old Property (StarCraft x Opalize) in the Gr.1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m).

The Gr.3 Kindergarten Stakes (1100m) winner made his first appearance as a three-year-old when fourth to Snitty Kitty in the Gr.2Caulfield Sprint (1000m) on 21 October against older horses.

Property is now expected to run in a 1000 metres three-year-old race on Tuesday at Flemington.

“We are thinking he might be better placed on Melbourne Cup day, where the weight scale suits him for his performances,” Smerdon told Racing.com on Tuesday.

“The Coolmore looks a bit tough so we’ll take the soft option… it’s about the quality of opposition and about getting him the best chance to be a winner. He came to Sandown this morning and Craig Williams rode him, Craig gave a very positive report post gallop.” -ANZ Bloodstock News
