At the conclusion of Day One of the Magic Millions Weanling Sale Amarina Farm was ranked as fourth leading vendor by aggregate and fifth by average after seven went through the ring for a total of $614,500 and an average $102,417.

The top priced lot for the farm was the I Am Invincible filly out of  Dash on Ruby who was sold for $390,000 and was ranked as the fourth top lot of the day.

David Lucas Bloodstock purchased the filly, who is by the same sire as Myer Classic (registered as Empire Rose Stakes) (Gr 1, 1600m) winning filly I Am A Star.

The Amarina Farm-consigned filly is a half-sister to champion South African two-year-old, Group One winner Harry’s Son (Rock Of Gibraltar). Her second dam, winning mare Lady Brackley (Rubiton), is a sister to former champion South African two-year-old filly and Group One winning sprinter Ruby Clipper (Rubiton), also the dam of South African Group One winner Seventh Rock (Rock Of Gibraltar).

Catalogued as Lot 280, the filly is the seventh living foal out of city winning Anabaa (Danzig) mare Dash On Ruby. She has had four winners from five foals to race, including the now deceased Paul Lafferty-trained Harry’s Son and South African stakes-placed Henry Of York (Henrythenavigator).

Dash On Ruby’s now unraced two-year-old filly by So You Think (High Chaparral) was purchased for $80,000 at the 2016 Magic Millions Gold Coast National Yearling Sale.

“I just thought she was nicely balanced filly and, once again, a racehorse type which is what we are trying to buy,” Lucas said. “I bought a couple of I Am Invincibles in Sydney and I am very very impressed with them since they have been broken in, I also bought a mare in foal to I Am Invincible.

“This filly she is well grown, well balanced, got the right attitude and she will make a racehorse for somebody, if not us.”

Lucas said the owners of the filly would have no hesitation in retaining her to race and breed with if they elected to bypass the 2018 yearling sales.

“We will look at her when the time comes to nominate her for a sale and make a decision on where we go, if we go anywhere at all,” he said.

“We are looking at the long term if we decide to keep them, if we race her and keep her she will go to a commercial stallion at some stage, otherwise she will be somebody else’s (via the yearling sales).” -ANZ Bloodstock News
