26 May Amarina weanlings in demand
At the conclusion of the Magic Millions Weanling Sale Amarina Farm sold nine weanlings for an aggregate of $855,500 at an average of $95,056. This placed the Denman-based farm as third leading vendor.
The farm’s top lot of day two was the Written Tycoon x Excelvision colt.
Victorian bloodstock agent Robert Roulston, acting on behalf of Chinese investors Bella Julie Real Estate, secured the colt who was offered as Lot 320 for $220,000.
The colt is the fifth foal out of Excelvision (Exceed And Excel), who has had three foals for race for one winner. His second dam, Astral Vision (Grosvenor) is a sister to South Australian Oaks (Gr 1, 2400m) winner Our Heavenly Body (Grosvenor). His fourth dam is stakes winner Starophelia (Beau Repaire).
The 8 September-born colt has been earmarked to be resold at next year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale by Roulston.
“He was just a nice strong colt by a good sire. He was bought by Chinese clients as a pinhook to resell next year,” Roulston told ANZ Bloodstock News.
“Written Tycoon can get a two-year-olds and older horses. This horse will make a two-year-old I think, especially as he is out of an Exceed And Excel mare. He’s a nice leggy horse who I think has got improvement left in him.” said Amarina Farm’s Craig Anderson.
Anderson said the colt had been a strong result for his client.
“It was a very good result and he is a lovely horse who was well inspected.
“He has good X-rays and he exceeded the vendor’s expectations. The weanling crop by Written Tycoon are still off the low service fee and the horse’s appearance certainly outweighed his pedigree,” Anderson said.
