Sheidel to race on

Robert Crabtree has announced Sheidel (Holy Roman Emperor x Laventour) will race on for another season after failing to get in foal this spring.

The six-year-old, who was born and raised at Amarina, has raced on three occasions this preparation, running fourth in Gr.3 The Heath  (1100m), third in the Gr.1 A J Moir Stakes (1000m) and fifth last start in the Gr.2 Schillaci Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on 14 October.

“She did go to stud, but she missed, so we are going to enjoy her racing for the balance of this racing year including Saturday,” Crabtree said.

Sheidel is entered for the Gr.1 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m)at Ascot on Saturday, and also holds a nomination for the Gr.1 Darley Classic (1200m) on November 11 at Flemington.

“We would like a softer track rather than a harder one for her (at Flemington) as would all the entrants from Europe for Cup week generally.” -ANZ Bloodstock News
